Shot with an old not-so-high-end digital camera and all the lights turned on. I purposely blocked the the flash with my finger to prevent glare on the surface..

This is a portrait of my brother I did from a photo I took of him last year.

This is my second portrait done in oils and oil painting #4 since I really started to try and get a handle on the medium last November.

Thanks Mike! Although, not a straight up portrait like yours, it's it's closest I've come to doing one :) Those suckers are hard, man!

Very nice. I've been thinking about using more greens and blues for shadows on portraits. What do you think? I'm wanting to pop out contrast some more and I think that the only way that I'm going to achieve that is by pushing my color pallet and heightening my highlights.

I think it needs more contrast, but I know you're just getting started

I've been working from newspaper photos in grey tones to get a better handle on blending, just a thought
